Raising Awareness, Saving Lives: Legends Hub Leads Breast Cancer Education at Fiaseman SHS
In October 2024, Legends Hub extended its social impact efforts to the heart of the Western Region, partnering with Fiaseman Senior High School (Fiasec) in Tarkwa to organize a breast cancer awareness and education program. The initiative sought to educate young women on early detection, prevention, and the importance of regular checkups — a vital effort in promoting health consciousness among the youth.
The project began when a proposal was submitted to the school’s headmaster, Mr. John Segoe, who immediately endorsed it. With further support from the Municipal Health Directorate, led by Madam Mina, the idea quickly took shape.
On the day of the event, the school’s assembly hall filled with over 500 female students and members of staff, eager to learn and engage. The session was facilitated by Madam Ernestina Kabi, a dedicated public health nurse, who passionately led discussions on breast health, self-examination, and awareness of the signs and risks associated with breast cancer.
She was joined by a team of committed volunteers — Nurses Priscilla and Deborah, Emanuela from PON, James, and Administrator Madam Deborah Nyamsen, who touched hearts by participating just weeks after giving birth to twins. Their combined energy and devotion brought the program to life, turning education into inspiration.
At the close of the event, Headmaster Mr. Segoe praised the Legends Hub team and their partners for their impactful and timely intervention, emphasizing how vital such programs are in shaping healthier, more informed communities.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with FOSA (Fiasec Old Students Association) and Legends Hub, stood as a powerful example of community-driven advocacy — one that reminded students that awareness can save lives, and knowledge is the first step to prevention.
